Dear Mr Mosquito

Dear Mr Mosquito, I’m aware this is your home.
And I strode in without invite not even a phone.
So yes you have every right, to engage in every bite.
But please could you take a break and abdicate your throne.

Dear Mr Mosquito, I know you must eat.
But as I rest must you lead my body to defeat.
So yes I am food, but you’re the reason for my foul mood.
I guess this blood must taste pretty sweet.

Dr Mr Mosquito, I gather you wont understand.
As I squeeze you to death and attack you with my hand.
So yes if you come for me, then I will come for thee.
And as for the rest of your tribe they will no longer stand.

Dear Mr Mosquito, let me light up this coil.
And take a minute to lay and repose atop this soil.
So yes you left your mark, almost from the very start.
Now I itch at night as my skin starts to boil.

Dear Mr Mosquito, I bid you farewell.
I hope our paths never meet again.
Dear Mr Mosquito, I do not wish you well,
And will never think of you as friend.

Inspiration

I spent 12 days living and surviving in the heart of the Amazon Jungle. I still have nightmares of the ferocity of the mosquitos that call this land home. I’d wake up to hundreds of news bites each day, my sleep was interrupted by the itching, my solitude broken by the constant song sung by these demonic creatures. Bite, bite, bite. That’s all they do. I mean get a new hobby guys.
