The Room that Promised

It was one of those magnificently unique places in the world,
where the clock halted and reality took a backseat,
those inside ushered their bags along like progeny,
on their next step, a paper ticket coupled as a blank sheet.

Crossing borders in desperate pursuit of the warmth of home.
Crossing borders absconding from the frost of home.
Crossing borders in the optimistic quest of love.
Crossing borders when love revealed itself as a devilish fraud.

All of the worlds implicit desires congregated into the hall.
Skimming through others stories, knowing theirs could well be soon.
The coffee slightly overpriced and the children overzealous,
a thousand and one poets all together in the same room.

They wait for their call, a catalyst to the future
Studying the bright orange merged into the black that told them more.
There could be a delay to some peoples dismay
But I mind not, this is the airport and what I am here for.

Inspiration

I love going to the airport. Anything is possible. I have spent a lot of time in departure halls, terminals and at check in desks and that feeling I get before boarding a flight is one of my favourite in the world. Whether it be for holiday, work or for no particular reason at all, the airport is a cool place to be.
